Supported features
LocalTeX compiles in your browser using TeX Live 2026, so most papers, theses, slides and CVs work unchanged.
Supported
- pdfLaTeX (default) and XeLaTeX for system and Unicode fonts with fontspec.
- The TeX Live package collection: amsmath, graphicx, hyperref, geometry, TikZ/PGF, beamer, siunitx, booktabs and more.
- Bibliographies with BibTeX (bibtex8, natbib) and biblatex with biber.
- Packages load on demand: most documents need only the 88 MB core of TeX Live; larger collections download the first time a document uses them.
-
Any other TeX Live package (for example
algorithmicx,algorithm2e,IEEEtran) is fetched by file name the first time it is used. Only the file name is sent, never your document. - Multi-file projects with
\input,\include, images (PNG, JPG, PDF) and custom .sty/.cls files. - Importing Overleaf projects from their “Download source” zip; the main file and compiler are detected for you.
- Working offline after the first visit.

Where your files live
Projects are stored only in the browser you use them in. Clearing site data, or Safari removing data for sites you haven't visited for a while, deletes them. Download a zip from the dashboard or editor to keep a backup.
